Nationalities of the characters

Where would each of the characters be from if they were on Earth? Each of the Champions has a distinct origin.

Hermit

Hermit has been around Dome since the dawn of humanity. As the only one of the Creations who has never died on Dome, his human form had to be from an ancient civilization. Two such places sprung to my mind. The first was Africa were all humans originate from if you trace it back far enough. The second was Mesopotamia, the Fertile Crescent. I remember learning in world history of this very ancient civilization so this is roughly the area Hermit would have come from. This corresponds to modern day Iran which is why Hermit is described as having dark skin. He appears Arabic to our Earth standards. This is why, when Kyros and N’Halia first see him, it is mentioned he looks like someone from one of the great deserts.

N’Halia

N’Halia has dark hair and light brown skin, corresponding to someone who is from the Mediterranean region. Her lineage is a mix of races and it is unclear where exactly she would be from. Since several people from her lineage are important to the earlier Events in the series, I won’t reveal too much. If she where from Earth though, she would be from the Mediterranean region, generally anywhere from the countries bordering the sea to the north all the way to the east.

Araina

Araina’s name is practically Aryan so it should come as no surprise that she would correspond to European descent. Germanic barbarians come to mind – a class of warriors, though she’s gentle at heart, of course!

Shoku

Shoku would correspond to a Japanese man. As I detailed in the last post, his name comes from the English translation from Japanese of ‘eclipse’ (nisshoku). In the series, its mentioned that he comes from the islands to the far east to indicate he is foreign to the continent which, like most fantasy, roughly corresponds to medieval Europe.

Fahrad

Fahrad is also from a different continent. His Earth equivalent would be Africa. He is the nature character – strong and wild. There was no better place than Africa and its exotic jungles!

Next up

Next post will be talking about ‘ll be taking a brief detour away from the characters and into the world. Specifically, the game of Hoops!
